Week of 3/18/13

If you’ve had a pint of our Prickly Pear Wheat in the last week or so, you may have noticed some nice improvements. We use the fruit from the prickly pear cactus in the beer (actually quite a bit of it), and one of our challenges over the last year has been learning how to handle the natural variations of different batches. That’s why each batch of beer was a little bit different than the one before it. But our new tanks brought with them improvements in how we can incorporate the fruit, plus much larger batches that help average out the difference from bucket to bucket of the fruit.

All in all, we’re very happy with how that beer has turned out, and you’ll start seeing it at more and more restaurants and bars around town. It’ll also be on tap at the brewery all week.

And if you’re curious, all of our prickly pear fruit comes from Natalie at Arizona Cactus Ranch. Click here to visit her website.

We’re also very excited to add Risky Business to the list of local restaurants serving our beer. Grab a burger this week, and tell them we sent you!

We’ve got a great week of events planned for the tap room. On Wednesday, several of our local leaders (including Councilman Kozachik and Mayor Rothchild) will be at the brewery to visit with constituents. We take the role of brewery-as-civic-center very seriously, and we’re very excited to have them over!

On Friday, local artist Chris Andrews will be showing his Southwest art, and his band will also be the music act for the night. If you’re on the west side of town, you can also join use at Monterey Court from 5 to 8. It’s a very cool little venue, and we always have a lot of fun at their beer tastings.

We’ve got Andy See and his Swingin’ Jamboree as our music act on Saturday, and we’ll leave you with a clip of his to get your week started off right.

The tap room is open Wednesday through Saturday from 4 to 8. See you soon!
